This drama in five acts is based on the story of the marriage of Ratnacüda with Ratnávalī, danghter of a Gandharva named Vasu bhūti. She is said to have accomplished her object by propitiating God Ratnēśvara worshipped at Benares. The drama was intended to be enacted on the occasion of the festival of God Svayambhūnātha worshipped at Mülāņdanagara (Muilandrum) in the North Arcot district. The author was Gururăma, son of Svayambhūnātha and grandson of Tyāgarāja of Kāśyapagātra and the daughter's son of Rajanātha. The author mentions certain distinguished predecessors of his family, such as Aghorasivadēsika, Prasādavallabha, Dhakkasabhāpati and Bhāskarācărya. They are also mentioned in the work Vibhagaratnamalika desoribed under R. No. 1739 of the Triennial Catalogue, Vol. II, Part I-C. Gururāma is the author also of Madanagõpālavilãsa (vide No. 12576 ante).
