Begins on fol. 158a of the MS. described under No. 12527. Contains up to the 46th stanza of the 5th act.
A drama representing the story of Rāma up to his coronation after the destruction of Rāvana : by Srikantha well-known as Bhavabhūti, son of Jātukarņi and Nilakaạtha, and grandson of Bhattagõpāla. He belongs to Padmanagara in the Dakşiņăpatha and to the Kāśyapagötra and Taittirīyagākhã. The work was intended to be enacted on the occasion of the festival of God Kālapriyānātha. The author is said to have written till the 46th stanza of the fifth act. The remainder till the seventh act is said to have been added by Subrahmanyakavi. Beginning:
अथ स्वस्थाय देवाय नित्याय हतपाप्मने । त्यक्तक्रमविभागाय चैतन्यज्योतिषे नमः ॥
(नान्द्यन्ते सूत्रधारः) सूत्रधारः ... भगवतः कालप्रियानाथस्य यात्रायामार्यमिश्रा आदिशन्ति ।
महापुरुषसंरम्भो यत्र गम्भीरभीषणः । प्रसन्नकर्कशा यत्र विमलार्था च भारती ।। अप्राकृतेषु पात्रेषु यत्र वीरः स्थितो रसः ।
भेदैः सूक्ष्मैरभिव्यक्ते(क्तैः) प्रत्याधारं विभज्यते ।। स सन्दर्भोऽभिनेतव्यः” इति । महावीरचरितं तर्हि प्रयोक्तव्यमित्यादिष्टमर्थतो भवद्भिः ।
वश्यवाचः कवेर्वाक्यं सा च रामाश्रया कथा । लब्धश्च वाक्यनिष्यन्दनिकर्षनिकषो जनः ॥
