___KADAMBARI. Substance, (Śrītāla) palm-leaf. Size, 194 x 17 inches. Pages, 242. Lines,
1] on a page. Character, Telngn. Condition, good. Appearance, old. Complete with the Pūrva and the Uttara Bhāgas.
A well-known romance describing in prose the union of two lovers Kadambari, the heroine, and Candrapida, after a series of repeated births. . The story is put by the author in the mouth of a parrot Vaišampåyana by name which relates it to Sūdraka, King of Vidića; and it is an involved one interwoven with many episodes. It is divided into two parts, the Pūrvabhāga and the Uttarabhāga, the latter part being a continuation by Bāņa's son of the story left unfinished by the father. The colophon at the end attributing the Uttarabhāga also to Bhāņa iz apparently wrong. This MS. does not give the introductory stanzas in the beginning wbich gives his genealogy. A critical edition of the work has been published in the Bombay Sanskrit Series.
