A drama based on the life of Siruttondanāyanār, one of the 63 Tamil Saiva devotees. He is said to have killed his son and prepared meals with the flesh of that son to satisfy the hunger of a guest, who happened to be none other than Śiva himself come there to test the faith of his devotee. The son was brought back to life by Siva's grace. These incidents are said to have occurred in Tiruccanyāttanguļi, a village in the Naprilam taluk of the Tanjore district, famous on account of the temple there dedicated to śiva. The author of the work is Jõānaprakåsar, son of Vellikkandayyar. Beginning :
