One Nambāļuván, a Pañcama by birth, used to praise God in the morning hours. One day a vampire canght hold of him and wanted to make a hearty meal of him. He promised on oath to the vampire that he would return and become its prey after having Budg the praises of Vişņu in the Tirukkurunguļi temple, if it would only let him go then. And he was accordingly allowed to go; he returned and kept his promise. The vampire then praised him for his truthfulness and piety and bade him go home unbarmed.
