This is said to be a collection of 400 choice stanzas selected from 8000 stanzas composed by 8000 K.sapanakas or Jaina ascetics.
The poets of the Kadaiccaigam (கடைச்சங்கம்) have mentioned this work as the first of the 18 Kilkkaņakku varieties; and as these poets are said to have lived about 1800 years ago, this work should have existed before that period. Certain Kşapaņakas are said to have been the authors of the work.
Padumanar is said to have divided this work into three parts, each being known as a Ulls and depending upon the subjeot matter.
