________________ Shri Mahavir Jain Aradhana Kendra www.kobatirth.org Acharya Shri Kailassagarsuri Gyanmandir (xxxiv) RAGHUNATHA DASA: Raghunatha Dasa, son of Vasudeva Daba was the author of a work called Tofaut, a palm-leaf manuscript of which (Dh-169) is preserved in the Museum. The work is complete and is divided into five #Tuts or sections. The author quotes from a large number of Puranas and previous Smpti works to make his discussion on each topic lucid and interesting. Among the Smrti works of Orissa, he very often quotes from TATTATE and at some places refers to AgTT' e get and 'विद्याकर पद्धति' whereas he cites only once from the स्मृतिसार संग्रह of Visvanatha Misra (F94). His date can be fixed after 1650 A. D. as he is posterior to Visvanatha Misra, and prior to 1729 as the Museum manuscript was copied in the year during the reign of Ramachandra Deva II (1726-1736). He seems to have quoted a few lines from the Kalasara of Gadadhara while discussing on '9797071413 without giving the name of the work quoted but simple saying ratratfo, In that case the date of his fara' may be fixed between 1715-1730 A. D. Speciality of this work lies in its discussion on ara qatfafa (F24) featAnT (F34) T791gat (F55) and traTCIATET (ET (F115) for the first time in a Smrti work of Orissa as they do not find mention in the Kalasara written about a decade age. He also writes how the Vaishnavas observe the festivals of SFATTAT and sevi (72). The author has given prominence to the festivals observed in Ekamra Kshetra or Bhubaneswara, while discussing on various festivals e.g., एकाने यमद्वितीया, एकानं अक्षय तृतीया. एकाने प्रावरण षष्ठी, एकाने# C#lait, Q*IA FATF atrait which might be due to his association with this sacred place. It is not unlikely that he was an inhabitant of this holy tirtha like Lakshmidhara Mifra dercribed before. : While discussiog about 'Aragat he says that on this auspicious day people take their bath in the Chandrabhaga river falling into the sea near the Konirka Kshetra, of Utkala desa situated on the nothern shore (72) acuafaqa' JERICEAT, acutafaat ettia#t For Private and Personal Use Only
