Hymnology: Svetambara works
Reference. The text along with this Kathar navanka is published (see p. 79). In the introduction of this edition the view. of Caturavijayaji as noted by me on p. 78 is stated but it is discarded for the following reasons:
(I) In the "bṛhad-bhandara" at Jesalmere there is a palm-leaf Ms. of an old commentary. This Ms. is dated as Vikrama Samvat 1380. The author of its text (Dharmaghoşa Sūri) must have flourished earlier than the author of this old commentary. Consequenty he cannot be one (of Tapa gaccha) who died in Vikrama Samvat 1357.
(2) In most of the works of Dharmaghosa Suri of the Tapa gaccha names of Devendra, Vidyananda and Dharmakirti are mentioned but it is not so in this text.

(3) Caturavijayaji has not stated any solid ground for identifying the author of this text with Dharmaghosa Suri of the Tapa gaccha.
Further, it is suggested in the introduction (p. 3) that Dharmaghoşa Suri, the author of this text, is probably the head of Añcala gaccha and that he is a successor of Jayasimha Suri. Moreover, this Dharmaghosa Süri was born in Vikrama Samvat 1208, he took dikşa in 1226, became 'suri' in 1234 and died in 1268. He is an author of Satapadi composed in Vikrama Samvat 1263. His successor Mahendra Suri has elucidated this work in Samvat 1294.

In the introduction (p.3b) several commentaries of this Isimandalathotta are noted. For instance, it is said here 25 that the old commentary on this text is composed by Bhuvanatunga Suri of Añcala gaccha and its palm-leaf Ms. is dated as Vikrama Samvat 1380.
