interest in the Prakrit language and literature, Jainology and Ahimsa, but also to explore and bring to light the hidden treasures of our ancient glory, and thus to radiate knowledge which otherwise would have been extinct. I am particularly happy at the choice of the first Director Dr. Hiralal Jain who has already distinguished himself as a University teacher of Indian classics and a great scholar in the field of Prakrit and Jainology, under whose care the progress of the Institute is assured.
