Father - The Mentor

During my childhood, was more influenced by my mother, whom I have lost her at an early age. Nevertheless many small events which had created a everlasting impression on my mind was due to my father. We were grown up in a small well knitted family of seven brothers and sisters. However, whenever we have an outing organised by my father, we used to go in a large group consisting of our family friends and relatives. No major event, whether it is a cultural, sociopolitical, sports organised in or around Calcutta was never missed by us. Even forty years ago he had encouraged every one of us including our sisters to participate actively in these events. It is thus not surprising that he had been instrumental in the inception and governing of several educational, social institution. He was an avid reader and have collection of books on wide variety of subjects right from philosophy to science. It may sound surprising that he was an avid fan of movies, till my mother was there to share the joy and togetherness. He was a man who used to display his love, affection and emotions quietly, except for the events and causes which he thought to be morally wrong. A simple event which left a lasting impression on my mind is as follows. There was a big open space in front of our home. Once local boys when playing there deliberatelly and intentionally hit a passing young lady. We were watching the game from our balcony. On witnessing such rowdy behavior my father rushed to the spot and gave a
