I offer my sincere felicitations to the Uttar Pradesh Shree Mahavir Nirvana Samiti on the auspicious occasion of the publication of 'Bhagwan Mahavir Smriti Grantha.' The publication would be of great value and very wide interest, and we are indebted to the renowned scholar Dr. Jyoti Prasad Jain for his dedicated work in this connection.
Today few things are more relevant and crucial to human progress than the path of AHIMSA illumined, practised and taught by Lord Mahavira. AHIMSA is a dynamic concept. New aspects and new applications are continually unfolding with man's earnest, ceaseless quest. The incomparable example of Mahatma Gandhi has added a dimension. His life was synonimous with pursuit of and 'experiments' in, non-violence and truth. It has reinforced to a degree unimaginable today mankind's strength and faith to follow the path of AHIMSA as a way of life. And every step, how so small or humble, by each one of us counts.
