Then he said in his speech 'How foolish I feel that such a great thing was going on within two Kilometers of the Statesmen and I was quite unware of it one year a correspondent of the BBC graced the occasion. 'Books for all slogan appealed to him so much that he kept on speaking nearly 15 minutes on the merit of the slogan. We have satisfied ourselves with education for all, but this is a noble idea 'Books for all he said.
Thus, we find in every field of activity, S.S.Jain Sabha is doing something. The great thing about this Sabha is - there is no politics. The posts are offered to its active members with a great request to accept it. The sabha has not piled up money. They appeal for donations when there is a project at hand. They estimate the cost of implementing. Then, the members voluntarily go round and collect money.
Very few Sabhas can compare with it. It has taken a great humanitarian work. It has found several very poor and destitute families and supplies regularly free ration to them every week.
The Sabha is not satisfied with the educational facilities it has offered. It is running the Indira Gandhi open University classes with commendable credit. It has several students in its various faculties. This runs in evening at Howrah Jain Vidyalaya.
The Jain Sabha has got the name of its location (Sukeas Lane) changed into Phusraj Bachhawat Path after the name of its stalwart founder Shree Phusraj Bachhawat.
Many people keep asking "what is it that keeps Jain Sabha Kicking?" To answer this question. An election slogan may be quoted "My heart beats for India" we don't know howmany hearts in that party really beat for India, but we do know there are several hearts in Shree S.S.Jain do beat vigoroously for it.
It is a model for other sabhas of this nature. It can ably suggest how to run a society.
In the back ground of all these activities-one person is in the forefront. He outstands. He is sri Sardarmaljee Kankaria. He has become a legendary figure.
We wish this sabha grand success!

आपणां तूं आपणी बातां जो बात अनुचित हो उस पर दृष्टि न डालो और जो कुछ अयोग्य हो उससे मन को सर्वथा दूर रखो। हालांकि मन की चंचलता एवं चपलता को सभी व्यक्ति और सभी धर्म एक स्वर से स्वीकार करते हैं परन्तु इस पर विजय प्राप्त करने का उपाय जैन आगमों में लिपिबद्ध है।
हम अपने मन पर विजय पा सकते हैं, इसके लिए हमें बारबार अभ्यास करना है। मेरा आशय है कि किन्हीं भी परिस्थितियों में हमें स्वयं को विवेकवान बनाए रखना है, मन के विचारों को विचलित नहीं होने देना है, समाज के अनुशासित सिपाही बनकर समाज के प्रति अपने दायित्त्वों का निर्वहन करना है।
श्री श्वेताम्बर स्थानकवासी जैन सभा, कोलकाता के छत्र तले हम बढ़ रहे हैं, इस सभा की देशनाओं में जीवन को सारभूत ही नहीं अपितु आधार भूत विवेचनाओं का समागम हमें प्राप्त है। उन पर श्रद्धावनत होकर हमें बढ़ना है। वास्तव में श्रद्धा जीवन की रीढ़ है। जैसे बिना रीढ़ मनुष्य गतिमान नहीं हो पाता, ठीक
उसी प्रकार श्रद्धा के अभाव में मनुष्य में मनुष्यता का सृजन नहीं हो पाता, मार्गबाधित हो जाता है, हम आत्मविश्वास मन में लेकर श्रद्धा के धरातल पर दृढ़ता पूर्वक चालित हैं और यही कारण है कि हम अपने संघ व समाज के समन्वय के प्रयासों में भली भाँति अग्रसर हैं। "हृदय में श्रद्धा हो, विनय हो, विश्वास हो तो सम्मान की प्राचीर से हम समाज को आच्छादन प्रदान कर पाने में भली-भाँति सफल रहेंगे।"
श्री श्वेताम्बर स्थानकवासी जैन सभा, कोलकाता के ८१वें वर्ष में प्रवेश पर हम अपनी सामर्थ्य अनुसार तन-मन-धन से सहयोग देंगे। हमें साकार करना है उन विलक्षणताओं को जिनसे समाजहित फलीभूत हो और समाज की प्रगति का ग्राफ सदा सर्वथा उन्नति की ओर अग्रसर रहे।
अपनी धर्म साधनाओं के माध्यम से समत्व में, पारस्परिकता में, मैत्रित्व के परिवेश में सामाजिकता के यथेष्ट सकारात्मक वातावरण में हम स्थिर रहें।
अतः अंत में पुन: एक बार फिर श्री श्वेताम्बर स्थानकवासी जैन सभा, कोलकाता के ८० वर्ष पूर्ण होने व ८१वें वर्ष में प्रवेश पर हार्दिक शुभ मंगल कामनाएँ।
