Svâsochchhvâsa-kâla (sareìgreat)—Śvâsochchhvâsa is the time taken by the pulse of a healthy man to beat once. There are 3773 pulse-beats in one muhûrta or 48 minutes. Thus in one minute the pulsebeats of a healthy man are 78 2. According to modern science, the frequency of pulse-beats of a normal healthy person is from 70 to 75 per minute-an almost exact anticipation of modern physiological research by ancient Jaina writers.
