सोमसेनभट्टारकविरचितएव निश्चित होता है कि गालव ऋषि एक सजाति धर्मपत्नीके होते हुए कलियुगमें दूसरे विवाहका निषेध करते हैं। परंतु जो लोग इस श्लोकसे स्त्रियोंका पुनर्विवाह अर्थ निकालते हैं वह विल्कुल अयुक्त है। क्योंकि यह अर्थ स्वयं ब्राह्मण संप्रदायके विरुद्ध पड़ता है ॥ १७६ ॥
वरे देशान्तरं प्राप्ते वर्पतीन् सम्पतीक्षते।।
कन्यान्यस्मै प्रदातव्या वाग्दाने च कृते सति ॥ १७७ ।। ___ वाग्दान हो चुका हो अनंतर वर देशांतरको चना गया हो तो तीन वर्ष तक उसके आनेकी प्रतीक्षा करना चाहिए। यदि तीन वर्ष तक वह न आवे तो कन्याको किसी दूसरे वरको दे देना चाहिए । मूल प्रतिमें इस श्लोकके नीचे 'इति परमतस्मृति वचनं ' ऐसा रिखा है ।। १७७ ।
- विवाहानन्तरं गच्छेत्सभार्यः स्वस्य मन्दिरम् ।
यदि ग्रामान्तरे तत्स्यात्तत्र यानेन गम्यते ॥ १७८ ॥ विवाह हो जानेके बाद अपनी उस धर्मपत्नीको साथ लेकर अपने घरपर जावे । यदि घर दसरे ग्राममें हो तो किसी सवारीपर चढ़कर जावे ॥ १७८ ॥
घरमें प्रवेश करनेका समय। विवाहमारभ्य वधृप्रवेशो युग्मे दिने पोडशवासरावधि ।
न चासमाने यदि पञ्चमेऽह्नि शस्तस्तदूर्ध्व न दिवा प्रशस्तः ॥ १७९ ॥ विवाह दिनसे लेकर सोलह दिन तकका वधूका घरमें प्रवेश करनेका समय है। इन सोलह दिनोंमें भी युग्म (सम) तिथियोंमें घरमें प्रवेश करे । विषम तिथियोंमें नहीं । विपम तिथियोंमें सिर्फ पांचवां दिन प्रशस्त है। अतः पांचवां दिन भी घरमें प्रवेश करनेके लिए अच्छा माना गया है। इसके अलावा और कोई विषम दिनोंमें घरमें प्रवेश न करे ॥ १७९ ॥
वधूमवेशनं कार्यं पञ्चमे सप्तमेऽपि वा ।
नवमे वा शुभे वर्षे मुलग्ने शनिनो वले ॥ १८० ॥ यदि विवाह-दिनसे लेकर सोलह दिनोंके पहले पहले वधूका प्रवेश कारणवश पतिके घरमें न हो सके तो पांचवें वर्षमें अथवा सातवें वर्षमें अथवा नौवें वर्षमै ज्योति शास्त्रोक्त शुभलममें चन्द्रवल होते हुए वधूका प्रथम प्रवेश होना चाहिए । आगे श्लोकमें प्रथम वर्ष भी प्रथम-प्रवेशके लिए अच्छा माना गया है, यह सूचित होता है। कहीं कहीं तृतीय वर्ष भी माना गया है ॥ १८॥
उद्वाहे चतुरष्टपदशदिने शस्तं वधूवेशनं मासे तु द्विचतुःषडष्टदशसु श्रीपञ्चमायुम्मदम् । वर्षे तु द्विचतुःषडष्टमशुभं पञ्चष्टमुख्या परैः (2)
