No. 186. SŪRADĀSA flourished about 1550 A.D. The famous poet of Braja, he was one of the Ashţa-Chhāpa. The following works of his have been found ia this search :
(a) Bhāgavata. (1) Sūra-sāgara, 3 Mss. (c) Govardhanalīlā.
(d) Prūņa-pyārī. Of those only Sūra-sāgara appears to be an independent work, others being parts.taken from his other works.
No. 187. SŪRAJAL)ÄSA doos not appear to be a poet of any merit. His two books (1) Ráma-janma & (2) Ekādasī. māhātmya have beon found. In the first he says that Prāṇanātha was his life, which may lead to the inference that the latter was his Gurū, but what. Prāṇanātha is referred to is not certain. Sūrajadāsa flourished before 1866 A.D.
No. 188. SURAKIŚORA wroto a book named Chhappaya in praise of Mithilā, where he apparently settled. His time is unknown.
No. 189. SURATI Misra flourished about 1720 A.D. He was a resident of Āgrū and lived at Jabāuābād (Delhi) in the service of Nasarullākhān, to please whom he wrote Rasagāhaka-chandrikā or a commentary on Keśavadāsa's Rasika. priyā, the nom-de-guerre of Nasarullākhān being|Rasa-gāhaka. When he visited the Bikāner court he wrote another commentary on the samo book, which he named Jorāwara-prakāśa after the ruling king Jorāwara Simha, who became Rājā of Bīkāner in 1737 A.D. The Jorāwara-prakāśa was completed in 1743 A.D. The other Ms. found is named Bhakta-vinoda which deals with the acts of Rāma and Krishņa for the diversion of their devotees.
