NOTES ON AUTHORS.

No. 144. RĀMADAYALA, a poet evidently of Ayodhyā, appears to have written some 3 books named Bhaktiragabodhini, Rāma-nāma-tatya-bodhini and Paradhāma.bodhini, all of which are contained in one manuscript, which begins with Tatva-vibhāga, which is apparently the introduction of a nameless book as a whole. The other 3 manuscripts found are separate copies of the 3 books named above. The manuscript containing the collection of all contains 21 leaves while the other three contain 4, 10 and 7 respectively, altogether 21 leaves, the size of cach book being oqual in all other respects. The manuscripts were written at Ayodhyā in Samvat 1921 = 1872 A.D. apparently by the same person Jānaki dāsa of Pramodavana. The poet does not appear to be old.
No. 145. RĀMADEVA composed a book named Ayodhyāvindu dealing with the life of Rāma. His time is unknown.
No. 146. RĀMA GOPĀLA wrote a book named Ashtajāma, describing the acts of Rāma during the 8 palaras (24 hours) of the day and night. He must have flourished before 1826 A.D. as his manuscript was copied in that year.
No. 147. RĀMAGULĀMA Dvivedi of Mirzāpur wrote Vinayanava-panchikā, a new book found in this search. He has been a famous expounder of Tulasidāsa's Rāmāyaṇa and himself wrote a Prabandha Rāmāyaṇa. Another small com. position like the Paứchikā is his Sankata-mochana noticed under no. 247 of S.R. 1909-11. From the manuscript under notico it appears that the poet flourished about 1813 A.D. as noted in 8. R. 1906-8 (See no. 213).
No. 148. RĀMAJIMALLA Bhatta of Farukhābād in the United Provinces wrote Śringāra-saurabha, a book on the various classes of heroines in literature. The manuscript was prepared in Samvat 1904=1847 A.D.
No. 149. RĀMALĀLA or Rāma Kavi was under the patronage of Brajendra Mahārājā Balavanta Simha of
