APPENDIX I.
in Samvat 1892 at Mirzāpur on the banks of the Ganges. Apparently Jagannatha Prasāda has presented his manuscript to Bābū Purushottamadāsa Taņdan. The poet gave the date of composition as Vikrama Samvat 1675 stating its equivalent as 1035 in what he calls San Rasūl, which is apparently Hijrā year, but the Samvat year fell in 1028 Hijrā and not 1035 which was equivalent to Samvat 1682. This is an anomaly which I called Dīwān Bahādur Swāmi Kannu Pillai to explain, but received no satisfactory reply.
No. 141. RAGHUBARA SARAŅĀ composed a book named Rāma mantra Rahasya, which was copied in Samvat 1933=1876 A.D. His two other works viz. Jānakiji ko mangalācharaṇa and Banā or Rāma as bridegroom were noticed under no. 308 of S.R. 1906-08.
No. 142. RAJJAB, a follower of Dādu Dinadayāla (Flourished 1643 A.D.). His manuscript found is named Chhappaya, as it is written in that verse. It deals with the Dādū-panthi doctrine. It appears to be a part of Grantha Sarvāngi, which he is said to have written.
No. 143. RĀMACHARANADĀSA who flourished about 1779 A.D. composed the following manuscripts found in the present search :(a) Drishțānta-bodhikā, or moral, religious and philoso
phical instructions. Of 2 nianuscripts one has 5
satakas and the other has only the 4th śataka. (6) Kavittāvali Rāmāyaṇa. (c) Padāvali in praise of Rāma.
(d) Ramacharita. Rāmacharaṇadāsa is known to be an author of several other books, one of which Rasamālikā was noticed under no. 44 in S.R. 1903, which gives the date of its composition as Samvat 1844 = 1778 A.D. and points Ayodhyā as the place, where it was completed. It is understood that Rāma charaṇadāsa was a Vaishṇava Mahanta in one of the mathas at Ayodhyā. He was a good poet.
