A number of stories including the jealous behaviour from the Bralımıns are reflected in the contemporary literary sources The clear vision of Hemacandra's political wisdom made him a close associate of Siddharāja who not only consuIted him in socio-politico-religio-matters but also took him to a number of religious tours to Raivataka, Simhapura etc Here Hemacandra exhibited his secular spirits and visited the temples in its true sense of spiritual preceptor which made him near to Siddharāja Hemacandra was also influenced by the administrative and human qualıtities of Siddharāja and attributed his greatest grammar in the name of his patron viz Siddhahaimaśabdānusāsana.
During this period he came in the contact of Kumārapāla who had been made allergic to Sidd. harāja by vested political interests. Hemacandra protected Kuinārapāla; used his political offices and helped Kumārapāla to attain the succession This made Kumārapāla a faithful devotre of Hemacandra. Henceonwards Hemacandra became a religio-political guide of Kumārapāla and the former used all the sources for the social welfare of public and for the propagation of Jainism.
Hemacandra made a number of valuable social reforms including the removal of practice of confisticating the property of heiress persons and put an abolition on the animal slaughters and wineselling etc. In compensation, they were given libe. ral grants to shift to new occupations.
