Knowledge of Scriptures and to purify their vision leading to Absolute Knowledge,
It is said,
सर्वोक्तोपदेशेन यः सत्त्वानामनुग्रहम् ।
xòfa g:aagai, a galzufauifsdy || 2 ||
1. Sarvajnoktopadéśéna yaḥ sattvānāmanugraham, Karoti duḥkhataptānānām sa prupnotyaciräcchivam.

1. He, who shows favour towards creatures who have become distressed with miseries, by the bestowal of the preachings of the Sarvajnas (Omniscients), attains Eternal Bliss without delay.
Also,
सम्यक्छास्त्रपरिज्ञानाद्विरक्ता भवतो जनाः ।
sasar çûnéyft à unfa qzgi afag 112 11
2. Samyakcchästraparijnānādviraktā bhavato janāḥ, Labdhvā darśanasamśuddhim, té yanti paramam gatimi.
Those who having acquired pure vision of Right Belief become disgusted (towards worldly pleasures) by a knowledge of True Seriptures, attain the Most Excellent State.
2. So far as the topic of discussion is concerned, the author proposes to explain in brief, the various types of Jiva (living beings) along with all its sub-divisions and varieties.
The author expresses his sense of reverence forwards the past sages by saying humbly that he merely states the principles related by the former sages.
Benedictory Verse of the Commentator.
Before proceeding with the actual treatise on Jiva-vicara, the commentator does obeisance to Vira (Śramana Bhagavān Mahavira)-the Sun of Right Knowledge-to the Goddess of Speech and also to his own preceptor, in order that his work may be completed successfully, by giving expression to the following benedictory verse:
