तृतीयः परिच्छेदः। माणिक्यानि याचितुं प्रेषितेति तद्ब्राह्मण्यो भणित्वा तानि याचयित्वा च शीघ्रमागच्छेति । ततस्तया गत्वा याचितानि । तद्ब्राह्मण्या च पूर्व सुतरां निषद्धया न दत्तानि । तद्विलासिन्या चागत्य देविकणे कथितं सा न ददातीति । ततो जितमुद्रिका तस्य साभिज्ञानं दत्ता पुनः प्रेषिता तथापि तया न दत्तानि । ततस्तस्य कत्रिका यज्ञोपवीतं जितं साभिज्ञानं दत्तं दर्शितं च । तया ब्राह्मण्या तद्दर्शनाडुष्टया भीतया च तया समर्पितानि माणिक्यानि तद्विलासिन्याः। तया च रामदत्तायाः समर्पितानि । तया च राज्ञो दर्शितानि । तेन च बहुमाणिक्यमध्ये निक्षेप्याकार्य च प्रहिलो भणितः रे निजमाणिक्यानि परिज्ञाय गृहाण । तेन च तथैव गृहीतेषु तेषु राज्ञा रामदत्तया च पुत्रः प्रतिपन्नः । ततो राज्ञा सत्यघोषः पृष्टः-इदं कर्म त्वया कृतमिति । तेनोक्तं देव ! न करोमि किं ममेदृशं कर्तुं युज्यते ? । ततोऽतिरुष्टेन तेन राज्ञा तस्य दण्डत्रयं कृतं । गोमयभृतं भाजनत्रयं भक्षय, मल्लमुष्टिघातं वा सहस्व, द्रव्यं वा सर्व देहि । तेन च पर्यालोच्य गोमयं खादितुमारब्धं । तदशक्तेन मुष्टिघातः सहितुमारब्धः । तदशक्तेन द्रव्यं दातुमारब्धं । तदशक्तेन गोमयभक्षणं पुनर्मुष्टिघात इति । एवं दण्डत्रयमनुभूय मृत्वातिलोभवशाद्राजकीयभांडागारे अंगधनसर्पो जातः । तत्रापि मृत्वा दर्घिसंसारी जात इति द्वितीयव्रतस्य । - तापसश्चौर्याबहुदुःखं प्राप्तः । .
