Ratnakarandaka-shravakachare
1. Now I shall expound the diverse fruits of one dharma, showing the fruits of both dharma and adharma in order.
Even a dog becomes a deva due to the merit of dharma. There may not be any other prosperity for embodied beings apart from dharma.
2. Even a dog becomes a deva, and a deva becomes a dog due to the merit or demerit of dharma. How? Due to the greatness of dharma, even a dog becomes a deva. And due to the rise of sin, even a deva becomes a dog. Thus, there may not be any other distinct prosperity for embodied beings apart from dharma.
3. The pure-sighted ones should not pay obeisance or show respect to those who bear the marks of false doctrines, out of fear, hope, affection or greed.
4. Darshana (right faith) attains the state of being a sadhu (virtuous one) from jnana (right knowledge) and charitra (right conduct). Darshana is said to be the helmsman of the path to liberation.
