प्रथमः परिच्छेदः।
जीवाः कथ्यन्त " इति भणित्वा तत्रीरुचिं कृत्वा तृणोपरि गतः शौचसमये कुण्डिकायां जलं नास्ति तथा विकृतिश्च कापि न दृश्यतेऽतोऽत्र स्वच्छसरोवरे प्रशस्तमृत्तिकया शौचं कृतवान्। ततस्तं मिथ्यादृष्टिं ज्ञात्वा भव्यसेनस्याभव्यसेननाम कृतं । ततोऽन्यस्मिन् दिने पूर्वस्यां दिशि पद्मासनस्थं चतुर्मुखं यज्ञोपवीताद्युपेतं देवासुरवन्धमान ब्रह्मरूपं दर्शितं । तत्र राजादयो भव्यसेनादयश्च जना गताः । रेवती तु कोऽयं ब्रह्मनाम देवः इति भणित्वा लोकैः प्रेर्यमाणापि न गता । एवं दक्षिणस्यां दिशि गरुडारूढं चतुर्भुजं च गदाशंखादिधारकं वासुदेवरूपं । पश्चिमायां दिशि वृषभारूढं सार्धचन्द्रजटाजूटगौरीगणोपतं शंकररूपं । उत्तरस्यां दिशि समवशरणमध्ये प्रातिहार्याष्टकोपेतं सुरनरविद्याधरमुनिवृन्दवन्द्यमानं पर्यकस्थितं तीर्थकरदेवरूपं दर्शितः। तत्र च सर्वलोका गताः । रेवती तु लोकैः प्रेर्यमाणापि न गता नवैव वासुदेवाः, एकादशैव रुद्राः, चतुर्विंशतिरेव तीर्थकरा जिनागमे कथिताः । ते चातीताः कोऽप्ययं मायावीत्युक्त्वा स्थिता । अन्ये दिने चर्यावेलायां व्याधिक्षीणशरीरक्षुल्लकरूपेण रेवतीगृहप्रतोलीसमीपमार्गे मायामूर्छया पतितः । रेवत्या तमाकर्ण्य भक्त्योत्थाप्य नीत्योपचारं कृत्वा पथ्यं कारयितुमारब्धः । तेन च सर्वमाहारं भुक्त्वा दुर्गन्धवमनं कृतं । तदपनीय हा ! विरूपकं मयाऽपथ्यं दत्त. मिति रेवत्या वचनमाकर्ण्य तेषां मायामुपसंहृत्य तां देवीं वन्दयित्वा गुरोराशीर्वादं पूर्ववृत्तान्तं कथयित्वा लोकमध्ये तु अमूढदृष्टित्वं तस्या उच्चैः प्रशस्य स्वस्थाने गतः । वरुणो राजा शिवकार्तिपुत्राय राज्यं दत्वा तपो गृहीत्वा माहेन्द्रस्वर्गे देवो जातः । रेवत्यपि तपः कृत्वा ब्रह्मस्वर्गे देवो बभूव ।

King Varuna, giving the kingdom to Shiva Kartiputra, took up asceticism and became a god in the Maheindra heaven. Revati also performed asceticism and became a god in the Brahma heaven.
