उपलब्धिके और विना इस बातका अच्छी तरहसे निर्णय हुए कि उसमें कोई क्षेपक शामिल हैं या नहीं, अपनी ही कोरी कल्पनाके आधारपर अथवा स्वरु'चिमात्रसे कुछ पद्योंको ( चाहे उनमें कोई क्षेपक भी भले ही हों) इस तरहपर निकाल डालना एक बहुत ही बड़े दुःसाहस तथा भारी धृष्टताका कार्य है। और इस लिये नागसाहबकी यह सब अनुचित कार्रवाई कदापि अभिनंदनके योग्य नहीं हो सकती। आपने उन पद्योंको निकालते समय यह भी नहीं सोचा कि. उनमें से कितने ही पद्य ऐसे हैं जो आजसे कई शताब्दियों पहलेके बने हुए 'ग्रंथोंमें स्वामी समंतभद्रके नामसे उल्लेखित पाये जाते हैं, कितने ही 'श्रावकपदानि देवैः' जैसे पद्योंके निकाल डालनेसे दूसरे पद्योंका महत्त्व तथा विषय कम हुआ जाता है; अथवा रत्नरंडकपर संस्कृत तथा कनड़ी आदिकी कितनी ही टीकाएं ऐसी मिलती हैं जिनमें वे सब पद्य मूलरूपसे दिये हुए हैं, और इस लिये मुझे अधिक सावधानीसे काम लेना चाहिये । सचमुच ही नागसाहबने ऐसा करते हुए बड़ी भारी भूलसे काम लिया है। परंतु यह अच्छा हुआ कि अन्तमें आपको भी अपनी भूल मालूम पड़ गई और आपने अपनी इस नासमझीपर खेद प्रकट करते हुए, यह प्रण किया है कि, मैं भविष्यमें ऐसी कमती श्लोकवाली कोई प्रति इस ग्रंथकी प्रकाशित नहीं करूँगा * ।
यह सब कुछ होते हुए भी, ग्रंथके कितने ही पद्योंपर अभी तक आपका संदेह बना हुआ है । एक पत्र में तो आप हमें यहाँतक सूचित करते हैं कि'क्षेपककी शंका बहुत लोगोंको है परंतु उसका पक्का आधार नहीं मिलता।"
