शिष्य 'चंद्रगुप्त' के वंश में हुए हैं । इसके सिवाय, जयसेनाचार्यने, पंचास्तिकायकी टीकामें, जहाँ शिवकुमार महाराजके लिये मूल ग्रंथके रचे जानेका विधान किया है वहीं कुन्दकुन्दको 'कुमोरनन्दिसिद्धान्तदेव' का शिष्य भी लिखा है; इससे जिनचंद्रकी स्थितिको स्पष्ट करनेकी और भी ज्यादा जरूरत थी जिसको चक्रवर्ती महाशयने नहीं किया ।
ऐसी हालत में, चक्रवर्ती महाशयने कुन्दकुन्दका जो समय प्रतिपादन किया है वह निरापद, सुनिश्चित और सहसा ग्राह्य मालूम नहीं होता और इसलिये, उसके आधार पर समंतभद्रका समय निश्चित नहीं किया जा सकता । यदि किसी तरह पर कुन्दकुन्दका यही ( विक्रमकी १ ली शताब्दी) समय ठीक सिद्ध हो तो समन्तभद्रका समय इससे ५०-६० वर्ष पीछे माना जा सकता है

यहाँ पर इतना और भी प्रकट कर देना उचित मालूम होता है कि ' बोधप्राभृत' के अन्तमें एक गाथा निम्न प्रकार से पाई जाती है
x उदाहरण के लिये देखो श्रवणबेलगोलके ४० वें शि० लेखका वह अंश जो पितृकुल और गुरुकुल' प्रकरण में उद्धृत किया गया है, अथवा १०८ वें शि० लेखका निम्न अंश

तदीय- शिष्योऽजनि चंद्रगुप्तः समग्र- शीलानत - देववृद्धः । विवेशयत्तीव्रतपःप्रभाव-प्रभूतकीर्तिर्भुवनान्तराणि ॥
तदीयवंशा करतः प्रसिद्धादभूददोषा यतिरत्नमाला |
दन्तान्मुनीन्द्र रसकुन्दकुन्दो दितचण्डदण्डः ||
१' अथ श्रीकुमारनन्दिसिद्धान्त देव शिष्यैः... श्रीमत्कोण्डकुन्दाचार्यदेवैः ... विरचिते पंचास्तिकायप्राभृतशास्त्रे ... । '
इन कुमारनन्दिका भी कहीं से कोई समर्थन नहीं होता ।
