गुणादिपरिचय । सज्ज्ञानैर्नययुक्तिमौक्तिकफलैः संशोभमानं परं वन्दे तद्धतकालदोषममलं सामन्तभद्रं मतम् ॥२॥
-देवागमवृत्ति। इस पद्यों समन्तभद्रके 'मत' को, लक्ष्मीभृत्, परम, निर्वाणसौख्यप्रद, हतकालदोष और अमल आदि विशेषणोंके साथ स्मरण करते हुए, जो देदीप्यमान छत्रकी उपमा दी गई है वह बड़ी ही हृदयग्राहिणी है, और उससे मालूम होता है कि समंतभद्रका शासनछत्र सम्यग्ज्ञानों, सुनयों तथा सुयुक्तियों रूपी मुक्ताफलोंसे संशोभित है और वह उसे धारण करनेवालेके कुज्ञानरूपी आतापको मिटा देनेवाला है। इस सब कथनसे स्पष्ट है कि समंतभद्रका स्याद्वादशासन बड़ा ही प्रभावशाली था। उसके तेजके सामने अवश्य ही कलिकालका तेज मंद पड़ गया था, और इसलिये कलिकालमें स्याद्वाद तीर्थको प्रभावित करना, यह समंतभद्रका ही एक खास काम था।
दूसरे अर्थक सम्बन्धमें सिर्फ इतना ही मान लेना ज्यादा अच्छा मालूम होता है कि समंतभद्रसे पहले स्याद्वादतीर्थकी महिमा लुप्तप्राय हो गई थी, समंतभद्रने उसे पुनः संजीवित किया है, और उसमें असाधारण बल तथा शक्तिका संचार किया है। श्रवणबेल्गोलके निम्न शिलावाक्यसे भी ऐसा ही धनित होता है, जिसमें यह सूचित किया गया है कि मुनिसंघके नायक आचार्य संमतभद्रके द्वारा सर्वहितकारी जैनमार्ग (स्याद्वादमार्ग) इस कलिकालमें सब ओरसे भद्ररूप हुआ है-~-अर्थात् उसका प्रभाव सर्वत्र व्याप्त होनेसे वह सबका हितकरनेवाला और सबका प्रेमपात्र बना है
"आचार्यस्य समंतभद्रगणभृद्येनेहकाले कलौ जैनं वर्त्म समन्तभद्रमभवद्भद्रं समन्तामुहुः "॥
