साथ व्यवहार) ही स्वीकार किया है, फिर भी यह स्पष्ट है कि कलिकालमें उस शासनप्रचारके कार्यमें कुछ बाधा डालनेवाला — उसकी -सिद्धिको कठिन और जटिल बना देनेवाला - जरूर है । यथा

कालः कलिर्वा कलुषाशयो वा श्रोतुः प्रवक्तुर्वचनानयो वा । • स्वच्छासनैकाधिपतित्वलक्ष्मीप्रभुत्वशक्तेरपवादहेतुः ॥ ५ ॥

स्वामी समंतभद्र एक महान् वक्ता थे, वे वचनानयके दोष से बिलकुल रहित थे, उनके वचन- - जैसा कि पहले जाहिर किया गया हैस्याद्वादन्यायकी तुलामें तुले हुए होते थे; विकार हेतुओं के समुपस्थित होने पर भी उनका चित्त कभी विकृत नहीं होता था — उन्हें क्षोभ या क्रोध नहीं आता था -- और इस लिये उनके वचन कभी मार्गका उल्लंघन नहीं करते थे । उन्होंने अपनी आत्मिक शुद्धि, अपने चारित्रबल और अपने स्तुत्य वचनोंके प्रभावसे श्रोताओंके कलुषित आशय पर भी बहुत कुछ विजय प्राप्त कर लिया था— उसे कितने ही अंशोंमें बदल दिया था । यही वजह है कि आप स्याद्वादशासनको प्रतिष्ठित करनेमें बहुत कुछ सफल हो सके और कालकाल उसमें कोई विशेष बाधा नहीं डाल सका । वसुनन्दि सैद्धान्तिकने तो, आपके मतकीशासनकी — वंदना और स्तुति करते हुए, यहाँ तक लिखा है कि उस शासनने कालदोषको ही नष्ट कर दिया था - अर्थात् समंतभद्र मुनिके शासनकाल में यह मालूम नहीं होता था कि आज कल कलिकाल बीत रहा है । यथा -
लक्ष्मीभृत्परमं निरुक्तिनिरतं निर्वाण सौख्यप्रदं कुज्ञानातपवारणाय विधृतं छत्रं यथा भासुरं ।
