गुणादिपरिचय | समन्तभद्रादिमहाकवीश्वराः कुवादिविद्याजयलब्धकीर्तयः । सुतर्कशास्त्रामृतसारसागरा मयि प्रसीदन्तु कवित्वकांक्षिणि ॥७॥
(५) भगवज्जिनसेनाचार्यने, आदिपुराण में, समंतभद्रको नमस्कार करते हुए, उन्हें 'महान् कविवेधा' कवियोंको उत्पन्न करनेवाला महान् विधाता अर्थात्, महाकवि - ब्रह्मा लिखा है और यह प्रकट किया है कि उनके वचनरूपी वज्रपातसे कुमतरूपी पर्वत खंड खंड हो गये थे ।—
नमः समन्तभद्राय महते कविवेधसे । यद्वचोवज्रपातेन निर्भिन्नाः कुमताद्रयः ॥
( ६ ) ब्रह्म अजितने, अपने 'हनुमच्चरित्र' में, समन्तभद्रका जयघोष करते हुए, उन्हें ' भव्यरूपी कुमुदोंको प्रफुल्लित करनेवाला चंद्रमा' लिखा है और साथ ही यह प्रकट किया है कि वे ' दुर्वा - दियोंकी वादरूपी खाज ( खुजली ) को मिटानेके लिये अद्वितीय महौषधि ' थे— उन्होंने कुवादियों की बढ़ती हुई वादाभिलाषाको ही नष्ट कर दिया था
जीयात्समन्तभद्रोऽसौ भव्यकैरवचंद्रमाः । दुर्वादिवादकंडूनां शमनैकमहौषधिः ॥ १९ ॥
(७) श्रवणबेलगोल के शिलालेख नं० १०५ ( २५४ ) में, जो शक संवत् १३२० का लिखा हुआ है, समंतभद्रको 'वादीभवज्रांकुशसूक्तिजाल' विशेषण के साथ स्मरण किया है— अर्थात्, यह सूचित किया है कि समंतभद्रकी सुन्दर उक्तियोंका समूह वादरूपी हस्तियोंको वशमें करनेके लिये वज्रांकुशका काम देता है । साथ ही, यह भी प्रकट किया है कि समन्तभद्र के प्रभावसे यह संपूर्ण पृथ्वी दुर्वादकोंकी वार्ता भी बिहीन हो गई— उनकी कोई बात भी नहीं करता
