To attain this, the Mabāmantra is to be meditated upon in a number of contexts, and various other topics are to be reflected on. It is this meditation with a balanced mind that leads one to self-realisation The author expounds the various accessories, procedures, attainments etc, in the cultivation of Dhyāna which leads to the highest bliss of Liberation for which there is no comparison (See the Intro pp. 59f. for a detailed summary of the work).
This short and cursory resume of the 'Tattvānu. sāsana clearly indicates that the main object of the author is to propound dhyana in its various details. That is why this work is called Dhyāna-sāstra or Dhyāna-grantha as well.
In the year 1918, as a part of the thirteenth volume of the Mānikachandra-Digambara Jaina granthamālā, Bombay, the text of the Tattvānusāsanam was published from a single Ms. On acco ount of a faulty reading, the late lamented Pt. Nathuramaji Premi was led to take Nāgasena as its author; but he rightly observed that the work was very important (mahattvaka) and of great merit (ucca kotika) and assigned it to a period earlier than Asādhara who quotes it in his commentary on the Istopadesa which was completed by him some time before Vikrma Samvat 1285 (-57= A. D. 1228). Then it was published by the Bhāratiya JainaSiddhānta-prakāsınī Samsthā, Calcutta, with the Hindi translation of Pt. Lalaramaji No attempt was made in this edition to improve the text with
