## Verse 231:
**The Destruction of the Karma of Conduct and the Explanation of the Action of Destruction**
**(176)** Does the karma of conduct, which is being destroyed, transition to another karma of conduct through **application** (prayoga), or through **rule** (niyama)? And how much of the karma of conduct remains before the transition to another karma of conduct occurs? || 229 ||
**(177)** The karma of conduct, which is being destroyed, transitions to another karma of conduct through **rule** (niyama). The remaining portion of the karma of conduct is bound in two **avalis** (time periods). || 230 ||
**(178)** The **avali** (time period) that is entering the **udaya-avali** (time period of fruition) is the first karma of conduct. The entire **avali** (time period) of the first karma of conduct is destroyed when it is being destroyed. Thus, two **avalis** (time periods) are involved in the transition. || 231 ||
