## Introduction
While the *Gatha Sutras* of the *Kasayapahuḍa* are quoted in this *Churni* throughout, there is a difference in the type of explanation. In some places, *Prarūpaṇāvibhāṣā* is used, while in others, *Sūtravibhāṣā* is employed. For examples of *Sūtravibhāṣā*, one should refer to the explanation of the 22nd *Gatha* on page 46, "**Payaḍiē Mohaṇijjā**", and the 24th, 25th, and 26th *Gathas* on page 253, "**Sankam-Uvakamvihi**", etc., where the meaning is conveyed by pronouncing each word of the *Gatha Sutra* individually, referred to as "**Padachchedō**". However, this type of *Sūtravibhāṣā* is found for very few *Gathas* in the entire text. The *Churnikāra* has primarily used *Prarūpaṇāvibhāṣā* for most of the *Gatha Sutras*. There are also many *Gatha Sutras* where neither type of explanation is provided due to their simplicity, and they are simply quoted, stating that the quotation itself is the explanation.
If we consider the number of *Gatha Sutras* authored by *Ācārya* Guṇadhara to be 233, then there are 53 *Gatha Sutras* for which no *Churni Sutra* has been written. The serial numbers of these *Gatha Sutras* are as follows: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, 39, 40, 41, 42, 43, 44, 45, 46, 47, 48, 49, 50, 51, 52, 53, 54, 55, 56, 57, 58, and 86, 87, 88, 89, and 90.
The *Churni Sutra* for *Gathaṅka* 1 is not *Prarūpaṇāvibhāṣā* for the first *Gatha*, but rather *Upkramaparibhāṣātmika*. There is actually no explanatory *Churni Sutra* for *Gathaṅka* 13-14. Instead, the *Churnikāra* has presented the 15 chapters of *Kasayapahuḍa* in a new way from his perspective. Thus, we see that out of the 180 *Gathas* of *Kasayapahuḍa*, excluding the 53 *Gathas* whose authorship by Guṇadhara is disputed, *Churni Sutras* are available only for the *Gathas* numbered 24, 25, and 26. The *Churnikāra* has not provided any explanation for the remaining 50 *Gathas*. Therefore, *Churni Sutras* are available for only 183 *Gathas*. Even among these, there are 20 *Gathas* that have only nominal *Churni Sutras*. On page 778, under *Gathaṅka* 155, it is stated:
**403. Edissē Ekkā Bhāsagāhā.**
**404. Tissē Samuktitinā Ca Vihāsā Ca Kāyavvā.**
**405. Taṁ Jahā.**
These *Churni Sutras* are not explanatory but rather indicative of the relationship between the preceding and succeeding sections or uplifting in nature.
The serial numbers of such *Gatha Sutras* are as follows: 136, 155, 157, 162, 168, 184, 186, 191, 194, 197, 198, 206, 204, 207, 214, 216, 218, 226, 232, and 233.
There are also some *Gathas* that have not been explained individually, but their *Prarūpaṇāvibhāṣā* has been done collectively after quoting them together as part of a chapter or section. For example, in the *Vedaka* chapter, the 4 *Gathas* from 56 to 62, in the *Upayoga* chapter, the 7 *Gathas* from 63 to 66, in the *Chatuḥsthāna* chapter, the 16 *Gathas* from 70 to 85, in the *Vyanjana* chapter, the 5 *Gathas* from 86 to 90, in the *Samyaktvā* chapter, the 4 *Gathas* from 1 to 14 and the 15 *Gathas* from 95 to 106, in the *Darśanamohakṣapaṇā* chapter, the 5 *Gathas* from 110 to 114, and in the *Cāritramohopaśāmanā* chapter, the 7 *Gathas* from 116 to 123.
