## Chapter 58: Description of the Transition of States, Knowledge, and Their Increase
**Verse 341:** The increase and decrease of the **duguṁchāṇa** (non-virtuous karma) is very little everywhere, and its state transition is also very little. **Verse 274:** The decrease transition is especially more.
**Verse 275:** This is called **jahaṇṇaya** (the lowest state). **Verse 276:** The increase, decrease, and state transition of all **payadīṇa** (virtuous karma) in its lowest state are equal.
Thus, the **padanikkhēvo** (explanation of terms) is complete. **Verse 277:** There are three **aṇiōgadḍārāṇi** (means of understanding) for the increase. **Verse 278:** They are **samukittanā** (enumeration), **parūvaṇā** (comparison), and **appabahuē** (less and more). **Verse 279:** First, **samukittanā** is done. **Verse 280:** It is like this: **Verse 281:** There is an increase of **asankhējjabhāga** (innumerable parts) in **miच्छattā** (false belief), a decrease of **asankhējjabhāga**, an increase of **sankhējjabhāga** (countable parts), a decrease of **sankhējjabhāga**, an increase of **sankhējjaguṇa** (countable multiples), a decrease of **sankhējjaguṇa**, a decrease of **asankhējjaguṇa**, and also a state transition. **Verse 282:** There is no **avattāvya** (unspeakable) transition. **Verse 283:** For **sammatta** (right belief) and **sammāmiच्छattā** (right intention), there are four types of increase, four types of decrease, and a state transition and an **avattāvya** transition. **Verse 284:** The transition of the remaining karmas should be understood as similar to **miच्छattā**. **Verse 285:** There is no **avattāvya** transition for the nine **nōkapārīya** (non-virtuous karmas).
**Chūrṇisū:** The increase and state transition of the **nupuṁsakavēda** (non-masculine knowledge), **arati** (disgust), **śōka** (sorrow), **bhaya** (fear), and **jugupśā** (aversion) are very little, and the decrease transition is especially more. **Verse 273-274**
**Chūrṇisū:** Now, further, **jahaṇṇaya** is called **alpabahutva** (less and more) - the increase, decrease, and state transition of all **prakrti** (natures) in their lowest state are equal. **Verse 275-276**
**Chūrṇisū:** Thus, the **padanikkhēpa** (explanation of terms) is complete. In the special explanation of the **padanikkhēpa**, there are three **aṇiōgadḍārāṇi** (means of understanding) for the increase: **samukittanā** (enumeration), **parūvaṇā** (comparison), and **alpabahutva** (less and more). Of these, **samukittanā** is done first. It is like this: There is an increase of **asankhējjabhāga** (innumerable parts) in **miच्छattā** (false belief), a decrease of **asankhējjabhāga**, an increase of **sankhējjabhāga** (countable parts), a decrease of **sankhējjabhāga**, an increase of **sankhējjaguṇa** (countable multiples), a decrease of **sankhējjaguṇa**, a decrease of **asankhējjaguṇa**, and also a state transition. But there is no **avattāvya** (unspeakable) transition for **miच्छattā**. **Verse 277-282**
**Chūrṇisū:** For **sammatta** (right belief) and **sammāmiच्छattā** (right intention), there are four types of increase, four types of decrease, and a state transition and an **avattāvya** transition. The transition of the remaining karmas should be understood as similar to **miच्छattā**. That is, there are three types of increase and four types of decrease, and a state transition for the sixteen **kapāya** (non-virtuous karmas) and nine **nōkapārīya** (non-virtuous karmas). The only difference is that these karmas have an **avattāvya** transition. **Verse 283-285**
**1:** How much is the increase and state transition of this **ēdesimukkasavaḍḍhī** (liberation-leading increase)? **Jayadha:** It is like **sakhējjabhāga** (countable parts) multiplied by **vīsa** (twenty) and **sāgara** (ocean) multiplied by **kōḍa** (hundred thousand) and **kōḍi** (ten million).
**2:** How much is this? **Jayadha:** It is **vīsa** (twenty) **sāgara** (ocean) multiplied by **kōḍa** (hundred thousand) and **kōḍi** (ten million) minus **kōḍa** (hundred thousand) and **kōḍi** (ten million).
**3:** How much is the decrease, increase, and state transition of all **jahaṇṇavaḍi** (lowest state) **hāṇi** (decrease) and **avahaṇā** (decrease)? **Jayadha:** It is like **ēti** (one) **dipa** (lamp) multiplied by **māṇatta** (measure).
**4:** How much is the increase of **asakama** (non-virtuous karma) when it is connected to **sakama** (virtuous karma) due to **sambaddhamaṇuvalambha** (connection of atoms)? **Jayadha:**
**5:** The special feature is that it exists in **visajōyaṇā** (separation) and **puvvasajōga** (previous connection), and in **savaōvasāmāṇā** (all-pervading) **paḍivāda** (debate). Also, there is an increase of **asankhējjaguṇa** (innumerable multiples) in **purisavēda** (knowledge of men) and the three **sajalaṇā** (types of knowledge), which is obtained from **uvasamāsēḍhī** (meditation) and **appapaṇō** (non-attachment) and **navakabadhasankamana** (nine types of bondage) and **avattā** (state) and **kāla** (time) and **kāūṇa** (cause) and **dēvēsuvavaṇṇaya** (description of gods). **Jayadha**
