**Note:** The Churnikara has divided the authorities in the way that was most suitable for the presentation of the subject matter, as is evident from the study of the Churnisutra.
**Division of 4 Gathas:** The 180 gathas are divided into the above 15 authorities as follows:
The first 5 authorities have 3 gathas, Vedak has 4, Upayog has 7, Catur-sthana has 16, Vyajan has 5, Darshan-mohopashamana has 15, Darshan-moha-kshapana has 5, Samyama-asamyama and Samyama have 1, Charitra-mohopashamana has 8, and Charitra-moha-kshapana has 114 gathas. The total of all these (3+4+7+16+5+15+5+1+114 = 178) is one hundred and seventy-eight. Adding the initial 2 gathas that indicate the authorities, the total number of gathas in Kasayapahuḍa becomes 180. If the 53 gathas mentioned above are also considered to be composed by Gunadhara, then the total number of gathas becomes (180+53=233) two hundred and thirty-three.
**Classification of 5 Gathas:** According to the Churnisutra, the original 180 gathas of Kasayapahuḍa can be classified into three types: 1. Suchana-sutra-atmaka, 2. Prishcha-sutra-atmaka, and 3. Vyakarana-sutra-atmaka.
**1. Suchana-sutra-atmaka Gathas:** Gathas that only provide information about the subject matter but do not describe it in detail are known as Suchana-sutra-atmaka gathas. The Churnikara has explicitly called these gathas "Aisa gaha suchanasu" (Suchana-sutra). From the perspective of classification, the original gathas numbered 4, 5, 14, 62, 70, 115, 176, and 180 should be considered Suchana-sutra.
**2. Prishcha-sutra-atmaka Gathas:** Gathas that raise questions to discuss the subject matter are called Prishcha-sutra by the Churnikara. Almost all the original gathas of the fifteenth authority, Charitra-moha-kshapana, are Prishcha-sutra-atmaka. There are also such gathas in other authorities, and their details in the original gathas are as follows: 3, 6 to 13, 15-16, 21, 28, 31, 30 to 41, 63 to 67, 71, 77, 86, 64, 68, 102, 104, 106, 113, 116, 126, 133, 138, 141, 146, 151, 154, 160, 161, 163, 165 to 168, and 176.
**3. Vyakarana-sutra-atmaka Gathas:** Gathas that provide answers to the questions raised by the Prishcha-sutra, or present the subject matter or explain the unexpressed meaning, are known as Vyakarana-sutra-atmaka gathas.
