## Sutra 22: Differentiation of the Region-Division of Nature
**108. Differentiation.**
**109. The differentiation between the inferior and superior regions of the karma of *mithyatva* (false belief) is an infinite period of time, immeasurable by the number of *pudgalas* (atoms), as long as the karma is not abandoned.**
**110. The same applies to the other karmas.**
**111. There is no differentiation between the inferior and superior regions of the karma of *samyagmithyatva* (right false belief), *samyaktva* (right belief), *purushaveda* (knowledge of the soul), and the four *sanjvalana* (agitations).**
**112. It is necessary to know the differentiation between the inferior and superior regions of the *mohaniya* (obscuring) karma.**
**113. The *bhangavicaya* (destruction of karma) is of two types, depending on the different types of beings: inferior and superior. By understanding this, one should know the *bhangavicaya* of all karmas.**
**Commentary:**
This sutra explains the differentiation of the region-division of all karmas, based on their duration and intensity.
* **Inferior Region:** The inferior region of a karma is characterized by its longer duration and weaker intensity.
* **Superior Region:** The superior region of a karma is characterized by its shorter duration and stronger intensity.
**Specific Examples:**
* **Mithyatva:** The inferior region of *mithyatva* lasts for an infinite period of time, while the superior region lasts for a shorter period.
* **Samyagmithyatva, Samyaktva, Purushaveda, and Sanjvalana:** These karmas do not have a differentiation between their inferior and superior regions.
* **Mohaniya:** The inferior region of *mohaniya* is characterized by its longer duration and weaker intensity, while the superior region is characterized by its shorter duration and stronger intensity.
**Bhangavicaya:**
The *bhangavicaya* of a karma refers to its destruction. The destruction of a karma is dependent on the type of being experiencing it.
* **Inferior Beings:** Inferior beings experience the destruction of karmas in their inferior regions.
* **Superior Beings:** Superior beings experience the destruction of karmas in their superior regions.
**Conclusion:**
This sutra emphasizes the importance of understanding the differentiation of the region-division of karmas, as it helps us to understand the duration and intensity of karmas and their impact on the individual. It also highlights the importance of *bhangavicaya* in the path of liberation.
