## Chapter 22: Description of the Division of the Realm of Nature, Case, Ownership, and Designation
**195**
**78.** In the final time of the *sāvedī* (liberated being), there is one *dayam* (realm of nature). **79.** In the penultimate time of the *sāvedī*, there is the *charimḍidikhāṇḍaga* (final division of the realm of nature) and the *charimsamayaviṇakkam* (final time designation). **80.** From the *jahaṇṇaga* (lowest) *sāntakarma* (karmic activity) of the *ducharimsamayasāvedī* (penultimate time *sāvedī*) up to the *sāntakarma* of the *purisavēdī* (liberated being) in the *oghukassapadesa* (highest realm of nature), this is one *faddayam* (division).
The *yogasthāna* (state of being) up to the *savyogasthāna* (all states of being) is the cause for the origin of the *sāntara pradesasatkarma sthāna* (intermediate realm of karmic activity). After this sūtra, the four sūtras starting with "jaha - jo charam samayasavedena" describe the two times less two *āvalī* (cycles) of time, which are the two *prūrupanā* (forms) that arise from the first *bījapada* (seed). The first sūtra describes the *pradesasatkarma sthāna* (realm of karmic activity) of the final time, the second sūtra describes the *pradesasatkarma sthāna* of the penultimate time, the third sūtra describes the *pradesasatkarma sthāna* of the third to last time, and the fourth sūtra says that "in the same way, one should know the *pradesasatkarma sthāna* according to the remaining two times less two *āvalī* of *yogasthāna*."
In the final time of the *sāvedī* *kṣapaka* (liberated being), there are as many *pradesasatkarma sthāna* as there are possible *yogasthāna* from the lowest *yogasthāna* to the highest. This is because different *yogasthāna* bind different *samayapravaddha* (time-bound karmic activities), and therefore, the *sattva* (essence) of those *samayapravaddha* will also be of different types, which leads to the origin of *pradesasatkarma sthāna*. Similarly, in the penultimate time of the *sāvedī*, the *sattva* of the *samayapravaddha* bound by the *yogasthāna* from the lowest *yogasthāna* to the highest *yogasthāna* that are appropriate for that time, remains in the penultimate time of the *avedī* *kṣapaka* (unliberated being). And from the *sattva* of these different *samayapravaddha*, different types of *pradesasatkarma sthāna* arise. Similarly, in the third to last time of the *sāvedī*, the *sattva* of the *samayapravaddha* bound by the *yogasthāna* will be obtained in the third to last time of the *avedī* *kṣapaka*, which will lead to the origin of *pradesasatkarma sthāna* in the third to last time. In the same way, one should describe the *pradesasatkarma sthāna* in the remaining two times less two *āvalī* of time.
"The transition of the *atīta samayapravaddha* (past time-bound karmic activities) to another *prakriti* (realm of nature) according to the *bandhāvalī* (cycle of binding)" is the second *bījapada* of the *sāntara pradesasatkarma sthāna*. The next three sūtras describe the *pradesasatkarma sthāna* that arise from this second *bījapada*.
**Chūrṇi** (Commentary): The *charam samayavartī* (final time) *sāvedī* *kṣapaka* is destroyed in the final time of the *charamasthitikāṇḍaka* (final stage) of one *sācedī* (liberated being). From the lowest *pradesasatkarma sthāna* of the *puruṣavēdī* (liberated being) to the *oghukassapadesa* (highest realm of nature), it is one *spardhaka* (competitor). **78-80**
The *spardhaka* is the *dravya* (substance) that is up to the *pradesasatkarma sthāna* of the *ducharimsamayavartī* (penultimate time) *sāvedī* *kṣapaka*.
**Special Meaning:** The reason for calling the *ducharimsamayavartī* *sāvedī* *kṣapaka* from the lowest *sāntakarma sthāna* to the *oghukassapadesa* *pradesasatkarma sthāna* one *spardhaka* is that there are continuous *pradesasatkarma sthāna* from the lowest *pradesasatkarma sthāna* to the highest *pradesasatkarma sthāna*. A particular *jīva* (living being) is in the lowest *yogasthāna* and has a *prakriti-gopuccha* (tail of the realm of nature) that is the lowest. Its *prakriti-gopuccha*...
