Verse 22 - Exposition of the Alpabahutvam (Scarcity and Abundance) of the Anubhaga (Intensity) of Asrava (Influx) Prakritis (Psychic Dispositions)
148. The Alpabahutvam (Scarcity and Abundance) of the Utkrista (Superior) Anubhaga (Intensity) is just as described in the case of Utkrista (Superior) Bandha (Bondage).
149. However, the Utkrista (Superior) Anubhaga Satkarma (Meritorious Karmic Activity) of Samyagmithyatva (Partial Right Faith) and Asamyatatva (Absence of Right Faith) is the least.
150. The Utkrista (Superior) Anubhaga Satkarma of Samyaktva (Right Faith) is infinitely less.
The Alpabahutvam (Scarcity and Abundance) of the Anubhaga Satkarma (Meritorious Karmic Activity) is now being explained. It is of two types - Jighanya (Inferior) and Utkrista (Superior). Among them, to explain the Alpabahutvam of the Utkrista Anubhaga Satkarma, the Commentator states the following Sutras:
Commentarial Sutras - The Alpabahutvam of the Utkrista Anubhaga Satkarma related to Anubhaga is to be understood in the same way as described earlier in the case of Utkrista Anubhaga Bandha. The only difference is that here it should be stated that the Utkrista Anubhaga Satkarma of Samyagmithyatva is infinitely less, and the Utkrista Anubhaga Satkarma of Samyaktva is infinitely less than that.
Explanation - The Alpabahutvam that was described earlier in the context of Utkrista Anubhaga Bandha should also be stated here in the context of Anubhaga Satkarma. The only additional point is that the Alpabahutvam of the Anubhaga Satkarma of Samyagmithyatva and Samyaktva should be stated as the least among all. The reason is that these two Prakritis are not included in the enumeration of Bandha Prakritis, hence their Alpabahutvam was not mentioned there. However, when a Mithyadristi (Holder of False Belief) attains Samyagdrsti (Right Belief), the Anubhaga of Mithyatva gets transferred to these two Prakritis. Therefore, it becomes necessary to mention their Alpabahutvam of Anubhaga Satkarma here. That is why the Commentator has formulated these two additional Sutras.
The Utkrista Anubhaga Satkarma of Mithyatva Karma is the most intense among all the subsequent Prakritis. It is infinitely less than the Utkrista Anubhaga Satkarma of Anantanubandhi Lobha (Passions leading to Infinite Bondage). From that, the Utkrista Anubhaga Satkarma of Anantanubandhi Moha (Delusion leading to Infinite Bondage), Krodha (Anger), and Mana (Pride) become progressively less. The Utkrista Anubhaga Satkarma of Anantanubandhi Mana is infinitely less than the Utkrista Anubhaga Satkarma of Sanjvalana Lobha (Passions causing Agitation). From that, the Utkrista Anubhaga Satkarma of Sanjvalana Moha, Krodha, and Mana become progressively less. The Utkrista Anubhaga Satkarma of Pratyakhyanavarana Lobha (Passions obscuring Vows) is infinitely less than the Utkrista Anubhaga Satkarma of Sanjvalana Mana. From that, the Utkrista Anubhaga Satkarma of Pratyakhyanavarana Moha, Krodha, and Mana become progressively less. The Utkrista Anubhaga Satkarma of Apratyakhyanavarana Lobha (Passions not obscuring Vows) is infinitely less than the Utkrista Anubhaga Satkarma of Pratyakhyanavarana Mana. From that, the Utkrista Anubhaga Satkarma of Apratyakhyanavarana Moha, Krodha, and Mana become progressively less. The Utkrista Anubhaga Satkarma of Napumsaka Veda (Passions related to Eunuch) is infinitely less than the Utkrista Anubhaga Satkarma of Apratyakhyanavarana Mana. From that, the Utkrista Anubhaga Satkarma of Arati Prakrti (Dislike) becomes infinitely less. This has explained the Alpabahutvam.
