________________ ( 45 ) why did we say “when preceded by a vowel” ? compare संखो (शङ्ख:); संघो (संव:); कंथा (कन्था), &c. असंयुक्तस्य दूतिकिं ? as illustrations of what we mean by the letters being single,compare लुम्पदू (लुम्पति); मिवउ (मिध्यतु); अक्खद् (अक्षति); अनादेरितिकिं as for the letters being non-initial, compare गज्जंता (गर्जयन); खे; गज्ज घणो (गर्जयति घनः); प्राय दूत्येवं Prayaa being still implied (see Siht 2ch.2) we also find such forms as पखला (प्रखलः); पलम्बघणे (प्रलम्बनः); अधीरो; अधलो (अधन्यः); उपलवभावो (उपलब्धभाव.); जिणधम्मो (जिनधर्मः); दूत्यादि दृश्यते । ॥ टोडः ॥ ६। खरात् परस्यासंयुक्तस्यानादेष्टस्य डो भवति । Single, non-initial ţ preceded by a vowel changes into d,as णडो, (नटः), भडो (भटः), विडवो (विटपः) , घडो (घटः); घडद् (घटते), &c. खरादितिकिं Why did we say when preceded by a vowel ? compare घंटा असंयुक्तस्य इतिकिं ? the t should be single, for compare खट्टा अनादेरितिकिं ? and also noninitial, for compare टंको. क्वचिन्नभवति This rule does not hold good in some instances, as अट (अटति); ॥ पाटौ लो वा ॥ ७। ण्यन्त पटधातौ टस्य लो वा भवति । When the root pat is in causal form, 2 is optionally substituted for t, as फाले, फाडेदू (पाटयति)। . ठोढः ॥ ८ । खरात् परस्यासंयुक्तस्थानादेष्ठस्य ढो भवति । Aho!
