the words brāhmana and purbáhna ; as बह्मणां, बाह्मणों
(ब्राह्मणः); पुव्वलो पुव्वाहो (पूर्वा) । १
॥
घज निमित्तो यो
घज वृह्येव ॥ ५० ।
वृद्धिरूप आकार आदिभूतस्य तस्य श्रा
भवति ।
a is optionally substituted for the á which owes its existence to the action of the affix ghan ( घञ्) as वही, पवाहो ( प्रवाह :) ; पारो, पारो ( प्रकार: ) ; २ क्वचिन्न भवति this rule does not apply to some words such as: राम्रो ।
। मांसादिष्वनुस्वारे ।। ५१ ।
१ प्राकृतप्रकाश कल्पलतिकायोर्मते वच्यमाणानामपि वाक्यानां विकल्पनात्त्व भवति । According to prakritaprakas'a and kalpalatika this rule may also be applied to the following words : such as - प्रसारः, प्रहारः, दावाग्निः, चाटु माज्जीरः, मरालः प्रवाहः । क्रमेण यथा, पत्थरो, पत्यारो, पहारो, पहरो; दवग्गी, दावग्गी, चडु, चाडु ; मज्जारो माज्जारो ; मरलो, मरालो; पवहो, पवाहो | कल्पलतिकायां स्थापितादेर्नित्यमित्यपि सूत्रान्तरमस्ति | Kalpalatika contains a suppli mentary rule that in the words sthapita &c., a is always substituted for the first ú, as ठवित्र्यं (स्थापित), पंसुरं; (पांशुरं ) मधुरीचं (माधुर्य्य') ; शौरसेन्यादौकचिदत्व निषिद्धं । In Sauraseni &c., such substitution is prohibited in some instances, as जधा, (यथा ) ; तधा, (तथा); &c.
२ प्राकृत प्रकाशादौ प्रवाह प्रहारादयः कतिपय घजन्त शब्दा यथाद्यन्तर्निविष्टा चत्रतु सूत्रेनानेन घञन्तमात्रौं । In prákritaprakas'a &c., only a few words such as Prabáha, Prakára &c., are included in the yatha class, but here we find a sutra to be applied to all the words having the affix ghan generaily.
