तृतीप-प्रकरणम्
૨૯ જે વાણીથી માણસને પરિતાપ પહેચે તે સત્ય પણ વાણી ન બોલવી જોઈએ. પછવા છતાં કોઈના મર્મને વિધી નાંખનારું, કર્કશ અને ત્યાદા વચન ન બોલવું જોઈએ,
29. A person should not even utter truth if it ORU888 (undeserved or uonecessary ) pain to another. Even when questioned be should always refrain from uttering words which are barsh, stinging or productive of enmity.
पुनन्ति वे स्वीयपदारविन्दैः पृथ्वीतलं सुन्दर-मागधेयाः । येषां मनोवाकरणालयेषु मृषा-विषं नो लभते प्रवेशम् ॥ ३० ॥
૩૦. તે સુન્દર ભાગ્યશાલીઓ પોતાનાં ચરણ-કમલેથી પૃથ્વીતલને પવિત્ર કરે છે, કે જેમનાં મનવચન-કાયામાં મૃષાવાદનું વિષ પ્રવેશવા પામતું નથી.
30. Those persons are enviably fortunate, whose thoughts, words or acts are not contaminated with the poison of falsehood. Indeed they purify the earth with the prints of their lotuslike feet.
प्लुष्टोऽप्यहो ! प्रज्वलिताग्निना द्रुः सान्द्रीभवेद्, दुर्वचसा न लोकः । वाक सूनृता यं तनुते प्रमोदं न चन्दनं तं न च रत्नमाला ॥ ३१ ॥
૩૧. જવલન્ત અગ્નિવડે બળેલું વૃક્ષ પાછું ફરી પુષ્પફલાદિથી સુશોભિત બની જઈ શકે છે, પણ દુષ્ટ વચનનો ઘા હૃદયમાં જે પડે છે તે રુઝાતું નથી. સૂતૃત (પ્રિય સત્ય) વાહુ જે પ્રમોદ આપે છે તે ચન્દન કે રાનમાળા આપી શકતાં નથી.
