अध्यात्मतवालोकः
पिता च माता च कलागुरुश्च तज्ज्ञातयो ज्ञानविवेकवृद्धाः। धर्मप्रकाशप्रवणाश्च सन्तः सतां मतः श्रीगुरुवर्ग एषः ॥३॥
? પિતા, માતા, વિશ્વગુરુ અને જ્ઞાનવિવેકવૃદ્ધ એવા જ્ઞાતિજને તથા ધર્મપ્રકાશક સાધુજ એ બધા ગુરુવર્ગમાં ગણાયા છે,
3. Father, mother, teachers, elders in ont's eastes advanced in knowledge and discrimination, and saints throwing abundant light on Dharma by their preaching:-these constitute the class of elders [ Guru-Varg+ ).
कर्तव्य एतस्य सदा प्रणामश्चित्तेऽप्यमुस्मिन् बहुमान एव । पुरोऽस्य सम्यग् विनयप्रवृत्ति वर्णवादस्य निबोधनं च ।। ४ ।।
૪ આ ગુરુવને સદા નમન કરવું, એમને માટે ચિત્તમાં બહુમાન રાખવું, એમની સમક્ષ ઉચિત વિનયાચરણ રાખવું, તેમ જ એમના વિષેના અવર્ણવાદ ન સાંભળવા.
4. These elders should always be bowed to with humility. feelings of respect for them should be cherished in heart; courteous behaviour should be adopted with respect to them and in their presence; and blasphemons talk, if carried on regarding them, should not be listened to.
आराध्यभावः प्रथमोऽस्ति पित्रोविमानयस्तौ लघुधीबुंधोऽपि । आराधयेद् धर्मगुरु-क्रमौ कि नाबद्धमूलस्तरुरेधते हि ॥ ५ ॥
૫ સહુથી પ્રથમ આરાધ્ય સ્થાન માતાપિતાનું છે. તે પંડિત માણસ પણ મન્દમતિ છે કે જે તેમની સાથે અનાદરપણે વતે છે. એ માણસ ધર્મગુરુની ભક્તિ પણ શું કરશે? જેનું મૂળ મજબૂત નથી તે વૃક્ષ શું વધવાનું હતું?
