अध्यात्मतवालोकः मरीचिकां वारितया विलोक्य मृगो यथा धावति भूरिकृष्णः । भोगान् सुखत्वेन तथा विदित्वा धावन्त्यहो! तान् प्रति देहभाजः॥४०॥
૪૦ બહુ તૃષિત મૃગ ઝાંઝવાને પણ સમજી તે તરફ દોડ લગાવે છે, તેમ પ્રાણી કામને સુખ સમજી તે તરફ દેડે છે.
40. A8 & very thirsty deer runs after mirage, deluded by the illusion of water; 80 this creature, taking worldly pleasurea to be real happiness, runs after them.
कस्तूरिकासौरभलुब्धचेता मृगो यथा धावति तन्निमित्तम् । न वेत्ति तु स्वोदरवर्तिनी तां प्राणी तथा सौख्यकृते सुखात्मा ॥४॥
૪૧ કસ્તુરીની સુગન્ધ પર લુખ્ય થયું છે ચિત્ત જેનું એ મૃગ કરતુરી નિમિત્તે દોડાદોડ કરે છે, પણ નથી જાણતા કે એ વસ્તુ એના ઉદરમાં જ વિદ્યમાન છે; તેમ પ્રાણુ સુખ માટે આમતેમ ફાંફાં મારે છે, પણ નથી જાણતા કે એને આત્મા પોતે જ સુખમય-આનજરૂપ છે.
41. Just as a deer, being strongly attracted by the fragraace of musk, wanders here and there for its acquisition, not knowing that it exists only in his own navel; in the same way a stupid person makes ineffectual exertions for happiness here and there, not knowing tbat his soul itself is full of bliss.
प्रभातकाले दिनमध्यकाले सायं च काले खलु वैसदृश्यम् । विलोक्यते विश्वपदार्थसाथै क्वार्थे वयं विश्वसिमो विचार्यम् ? ॥ ४२ ॥
૪૨ પ્રભાતકાલમાં, મધ્યાહ્નકાલમાં અને સાયંકાલમાં વસ્તુઓના વિસદશ પરિણામ (ચિત્ર-વિચિત્ર ફેરફાર કે સ્પષ્ટ દેખાયા કરે છે. આવા સ્વરૂપના સંસારમાં આસ્થા કરવાનું સ્થાન કયાં?
