શી-હિતિઃ
उच्चोच्चशक्तरवतार एष यद् वर्धमानो भुवमाजगाम । असौ विरक्तो जगदालनादैर्भवत्यनल्पाऽऽत्मविमुक्तिचिन्तः ॥३५॥
આ ઊંચીમાં ઊંચી શક્તિનું અવતરણ છે કે મહાવીરનું પૃથ્વી પર આગમન થયું. એ મહાન પુરુષ જગના આર્તનાદથી વિરક્ત બની આત્મમુક્તિના, પ્રાણીઓની દુઃખ-મુક્તિના મહાન ચિન્તનમાં મગ્ન બને છે. (૩૫)
( 35 ) An embodiment of the highest power, Vardhamana came down to earth. This great personage, being filled with a desire for renunciation because of the unceasing cries of eartbly creatures became absorbed in reflecting on how to make them free from miseries.
दुःखस्य मूलं जडमोहरोगस्तेनैव सन्ताम्यति विश्वमेतत् । चित्तवमानोज्ज्वलसंयमस्याऽनुशीलनं खल्वगदोऽस्ति तत्र ॥३६ ॥
દુઃખનું મૂળ જડમેહને રેગ છે, એથી જ આ જગત્ દુઃખી છે. આત્મદ્રષ્ટિપૂત સંયમ જ એ રેગનું ઓસડ છે. (૩૬)
( 36 ) The root of all troubles is the disease of attachment to material things. It is because of this that the whole world suffers. The medicinal remedy thereof is the practice of selfrestraint illumined with the consciousness of the Self,
स्वयं तमासेव्य परं प्रपद्य स्वास्थ्यं स्वकीयं प्रकटीकरोमि । कल्याणभूतं जगतः पुरस्तमित्युच्चकैश्चिन्तनमाविशत् सः ॥३७॥
હું પિતે જ પહેલાં એ ઓસડનું સંપૂર્ણ સેવન કરું અને મારું પિતાનું (આત્મિક) સવારણ્ય પૂર્ણ પ્રાપ્ત કર્યું અને પછી એ કલ્યાણભૂત એસડ ને જગની આગળ પ્રકટ કરું–આ જાતના ઉચ્ચ ચિન્તનમાં મહાવીર નિમગ્ન બને છે. (૩૭)
