जी. जी. भागवत ATMA-TATTVA-SAMIKSHANAM (A thoughtful consideration of the true nature of the Soul)
Having saluted out of devotion (Lord) Mahavira and the spiritual teacher as well as (my) mother and father I compose, for the welfare of all, (the poem entitled) “Atma-Tattva-Samikshana” - a thoughtful consideration of the true nature of the Soul.(1)
The aspirant attains renunciation impregnated with learning through the sacred knowledge of (his own) self and then having abandoned the objects of senses (he) longs for liberation.(2)
Having accepted further the tenfold religion such as forbearance, humility, straightforwardness etc. through sincerity, he (the aspirant) always abides in the Supreme Spirit, separating (his) body (from the Soul).(3)
Establishing his own self in the Supreme Spirit with witnesslike aloofness, a wise (aspirant), endowed with the abstract meditation of Supreme Spirit, appears like one, who is liberated while alive.(4)
The aforesaid aspirant), who is always pure, devoid of attachment and form and who is free from bondage, is neither the doer nor enjoyer, being bereft of all pairs of opposites. (5)
He (the aspirant) beholds this Universe like a dream through the perception of his own self and now being immersed in the highest joy, he become (all) perfect indeed.(6)
Having understood through discrimination that the nature of his self is pure and enlightened, he (the aspirant) gives up lowmindedness, discarding the high opinion of his (own) body.(7)
