In fact the Unadisutras of Sakatayana have foun: general admission among grammarians and have been annotated by varions commentators, such as Ujjvaladatta, Madhava and others.
Sakatayana is mentioned as one of the eight prin: cipal grammarians in the well-known sloka found in the Kavikalpadruma of Bopadeva and elsewhere. These eight gramınarians thus named are:
Indra, Candra, Kasakrtsna, Apisali, Sakatayana, Panini, Amara and Jainendra. The Sloka runs as follows:
इन्द्रश्चन्द्रः काशकृत्स्ना पिशली शाकटायनः ।
पाणिन्यमरजैनेन्द्रा जयन्त्यष्टादिशाब्दिकाः ।। Sakatayana mentions in his Sutras only Indra, pp. 11, 14 and 34, 92, Siddhanandin, pp. 47, 15 and 87, 31 and Aryavajra pp. 10, 11 and 12, 13 as previ. ous grammariars.
