Exhibition of Mnemonic Powers
A large number of native gentlemen assembled on Saturday at the 'Faramji Cowasji Institution' to witness an exhibition of the mnemonic powers of a young Hindoo, named Rajchandra Ravjibhai of about 19 years of age. Dr. Peterson presided on the occassion. Ten gentlemen of different castes were selected from the audience to form a committee and they all wrote out sentences composed of six words into different languages. Each one in turn gave one word of his sentence, oftentime varying the order of the words. After a time the young Hindoo reproduced to the surprise of his audience, the entire sentences giving the order of words from memory.
The young man also seemed to have a remarkable sense of preception by touch or feeling. He was first shown about a dozen books of various sizes, and was informed of the names of those books. The man was then blindfolded and he gave out the names of each of those books by feeling with hand. Dr. Peterson congratulated and presented him with a gold medal on behalf of the Jain community.

અભુત સ્મરણશક્તિ
ગઈ કાલે સાંજે “ફરામજી કાવસજી ઇન્ડસ્ટીટ્યુશન'માં કાઠિયાવાડના શીઘ્રકવિ રાયચંદ રવજીભાઈએ શતાવઘાન પ્રયોગ કરી બતાવ્યો હતો. શરૂઆતમાં જુદી જુદી દશ ભાષાના છ છ શબ્દોનાં દશ વાક્યો આડાઅવળાં કહી બતાવેલાં તે કવિએ સ્મરણમાં રાખી મિ. પીટરસનના પ્રમુખપણા નીચે યથાર્થ કહી સંભળાવી સભાને રંજન કરી હતી. કવિની અદભુત સ્મરણશક્તિથી હરકોઈ અચરજ પામ્યા હતા. વિઘાન વિધિ વિષે રચેલી કવિતા નીચે પ્રમાણે તરત કહી સંભળાવી હતી.
શ્રીમદ્ સંબંથી અભિપ્રાયો તથા ઉદ્ગારો સભાસદો અહીં મળ્યા, મહાન જે સુભાગિયા;
પ્રભા સરસ્વતી તણી, પ્રમુખરૂપ આ ભણી. મિપીટરસને કવિની પ્રશંસા કરી જૈનમંડળ તરફથી સોનાનો ચાંદ ભેટ આપ્યો. કવિ વિઘાનવિધિ વિષે તથા સ્મરણશક્તિની કેળવણી વિષે થોડું બોલ્યા હતા. “ગુજરાતી” તા.૨-૧-૧૮૮૭
મુંબઈમાં બનેલ પ્રસંગો
