The text mentions a verse from 'Sanmati.' Nowadays, it is believed that Siddhasena Divakara is Gandhahasthi. However, this mention by Upadhyay Yashovijaya is misleading. There are two clear pieces of evidence for this. First, no ancient or modern author prior to Yashovijaya has used the designation 'Gandhahasthi' with Siddhasena Divakara or with any of his recognized works or referenced excerpts from those works. The only one to use the term 'Gandhahasthi' in relation to the excerpts from Siddhasena Divakara's works is Yashovijaya himself; therefore, this statement lacks any ancient foundation. Additionally, in all the ancient or modern accounts of Siddhasena Divakara's life, the term 'Gandhahasthi' is not evident, whereas the title 'Divakara' is found in ancient texts and works of other acharyas. The second strong and irrefutable evidence is that in many texts preceding Upadhyay Yashovijaya, all the excerpts mentioning 'Gandhahasthi' are found in multiple accounts:
1. The Siddhasena narrative in the narrative text by Bhadrashvarka, various writings on Siddhasena, the old narrative associated with Bhava Prakirti, the Vikram narrative included in Prabandhachandrika, and the Chaturvishati narrative.
In the life narratives of Siddhasena, while the name Divakara is included and supported, there is nothing regarding Gadhahasti. If the term 'Gandhahasthi' has such an ancient usage, then the question arises as to why ancient authors did not use the term 'Gandhahasthi' with the name Siddhasena, similar to the way they used the term 'Divakara?'
