Regarding Bodies
The auspicious body is the foundation of the lineage, and the birth is an appropriation of noble particles suitable for the gross body; the place where that appropriation occurs is called the lineage.
Question: The lineages are considered to be eighty-four lakh, then why are there only nine mentioned here?
Answer: The mention of the eighty-four lakh lineages has been made in terms of their extensiveness. For every type of body, such as the earth body, whose characteristics involve color, smell, taste, and touch in varying degrees, there are as many lineages accounted for within the eighty-four lakh. Here, those eighty-four lakh lineages are concisely referred to as nine categories in terms of conscious and other forms.

As for the masters of birth—among the three types of births mentioned above, the categorization of what types of beings undergo which births is as follows:
The beings born from a womb are the jarayuj, and those born from eggs are the andaj, while those born from moisture are the potaj. Devas and Narakas have a special birth called upapad. All remaining beings, namely the five immovable, three non-sentient, and the five-sensed creatures of various kinds, as well as humans, experience birth through a process of confusion.
Jarayuj beings are those born from a womb, such as humans, cows, and goats. The jarayu refers to a kind of membrane-like covering filled with blood and flesh, in which the fetus remains enveloped. The andaj beings are those born from eggs, such as snakes, peacocks, birds, and pigeons. The potaj beings are those not encased in any covering, like elephants, hares, jackals, and mice. They are neither born enclosed within a womb nor from eggs; rather, they are born with open bodies. For the births of divinities and Narakas, there are specific designated places referred to as upapad. The area covered by divine attire above the divine couch is the upapad area for the devas, while the chamber of the diamond-like structure is the upapad area for the Narakas, as they appropriate particles located in this upapad area for their bodies.
Regarding bodies, there are various subtle aspects.

38. The term 'province' has been explained in the commentary to mean 'infinite varieties,' while in the context of total meaning, it is referred to as 'atoms.'
