The third chapter: The brilliance of the threefold great darkness, the dust of gems and sand, the various earths, the waters, the winds, and the sky are established below sevenfold. (1) In them are the hells. (2) The continuous flow of inauspiciousness, the transformations of the body, the pains of existence, and the lack of action. (3) Mutual suffering caused by one another. (4) The mixed causes of suffering arising from the demons. (5) Among them, there exists the state of beings compared to the ocean, having states of one, three, seven, and twenty-three. (6) The Jambudvipa and the auspicious named island-ocean. (7) The double-pillar structure of former former structures in circular forms. (8) In the midst of them, the Meru with a thousand Yojanas is Jambudvipa. (9) There, the regions of Bharata, Himavata, Harivideha, Ramyaka, and Hiranyavata are the productive lands. (10) The divisions of those (regions) are based on the prominent and less prominent Himavata, the great Himavata, Nisadha, Nilarukmi peaks, and the mountain of the seasonal rains. (11)
