(lifelong). This is the main difference between the two. The commentator (Vritti) states-Although name can also be temporary because it is also changed, however, in spite of the
ange in name the thing or person remains the same. Keeping this in view it is called lifelong. (Vritti leaf 13-14)
Another difference between the two is that the respect, disrespect, joy, excitement and other feelings inspired by an image are absent in mere name. Thus installation is more effective than name. For example hearing the word God does not inspire such joy as that inspired by seeing an image, picture, or idol of God. Name is just for identification whereas installation includes feelings towards the image. However, both are devoid of actual attributes. (Raja Varttik 1/5/13/29/25)
विशेष शब्दों के अर्थ-(१) कट्ठ कम्मे (काष्ठ कर्म)-काठ या लकड़ी में उकेरी गई आकृति। प्राचीनकाल में इन्द्र, स्कन्द, मुकुन्द आदि की प्रतिमाएँ काठ की बनती थीं।
(२) चित्त कम्मे (चित्र कर्म)-कागज या दीवार पर चित्रित आकृति।
(३) पोत्थ कम्मे (पुस्तकर्म)-कपड़े या ताड़-पत्र आदि पर अंकित आकृति या छेद कर बनाये गये आकार या कपड़े की बनी पुतली आदि। कुछ विद्वानों का मत है-'पुस्त' शब्द पहलवी भाषा का है, जिसका अर्थ है-चमड़ा। प्राचीनकाल में चमड़े के चित्र बनते थे व चमड़े पर ग्रन्थ भी लिखे जाते थे। (अनुयोगद्वार, आचार्य महाप्रज्ञ, पृ. १९)
(४) लेप्यकम्मे (लेप्य कर्म)-गीली मिट्टी आदि के लेप से बनी आकृति।
(५) गन्थिमे (ग्रन्थिम)-वस्त्र, रस्सी या सूत, धागे आदि को गूंथकर उसमें गाँठें डालकर बनाई गई आकृति। सूत की माला, जाली आदि प्राचीन समय में भी बनती थी। जिसका उल्लेख आचार्य हरिभद्र ने किया है।
(६) वेढिमे चिप्टिम)-एक, दो या अनेक वस्त्र खण्डों को लपेटकर बनाई गई आकृति, जैसेपुतली। फूलों को गूंथकर बनी आकृति भी वेष्टिम कही जाती थी। (मलधारी वृत्ति, पृ. १२) ।
(७) पूरिमे (पूरिम)-गर्म ताँबे, पीतल आदि धातुओं को साँचे में ढालकर भरकर बनाई गई आकृति।
(८) संघाइमे (संघातिम)-अनेक वस्त्र खण्डों व फूलों को साँधकर, जोड़कर बनाई आकृति। (९) अक्खे (अक्ष)-चौपड़ के पाँसे आदि से बनी आकृति।
