It is evident from these references that violence and ahimsa are related to feelings. The ascetic who follows the ascetic conduct with prudence, care and code laid down in Agam avoids faults or sin. However, if there is some laxity or stupor in following the procedure he should do the necessary atonement (iryapathik pratikraman). (Hindi Tika, p. 1099)

जंघाप्रमाण-जल में तरने की विधि
१५५. से भिक्खू वा २ गामाणुगामं दूइज्जेज्जा, अंतरा से जंघासंतारिमे उदगे सिया, से पुव्वामेव ससीसोवरियं कायं पाए य पमज्जेज्जा, से एगं पायं जले किच्चा एगं पायं थले किच्चा ततो संजयामेव जंघासंतारिमे उदगे अहारियं रीएज्जा।
१५५. साधु-साध्वी ग्रामानुग्राम विहार करते हुए मार्ग में जंघाप्रमाण (जंघा से पार करने योग्य) जल (जलाशय या नदी) आ जाये तो उसे पार करने के लिए वह पहले सिर से लेकर पैर तक प्रतिलेखना करे। प्रतिलेखना करके एक पैर को जल में और एक पैर को स्थल में रखकर (अर्थात् एक पैर ऊँचा उठाकर दूसरा पैर रखे) भगवान के द्वारा कथित ईर्यासमिति की विधि के अनुसार जंघा से तरणीय जल को पार करे। ईर्या : तृतीय अध्ययन
