Devendrasinha
Mentioned as the pupil of Ajitasinhasûri and guru of Dharmaprabha. According to Merutunga's Shatpadi (No. 1340 of this Report's Collection) this teacher was born, Samvat 1299; dikshâ, 1306 : sûripadn, 1323: gachchheśvara, 1339: died, 1371 in Pahlaupore. 3, App. p. 220. Devendra gani
Afterwards called Nemichandra. Author of a commentary on the Uttaradhyayanastra. 1, App. p. 41; 1, App. p. 83; 3, App. p. 71; 3, App. p. 77; 3, App. p. 80, v. 10. Devendragasi composed this commentary in Samvat 1129. Bhandarkar's Report, 1883-4, p. 441. Author of the Akkhâņayamaņikosa (Akhyânakamaņikośa). His commentator Amradevasûri says that he intimates by the use of his name Devin dasâdhu in the last gâth â that he wrote the book after he had become a sâdhu. His previous name was Nemichandra (saiddhantikasiromaņih. He is often styled Nemichandrasaiddhantika). Âmradevasûri gives the following account of the line in which both he and Devendragani were. Out of the Brihad gachchha there arose, as jewels from the ocean :
Pårijậta, in the shape of Devasûri. Dhanvantari, in the shape of Ajitasûri. Airâvata in the shape of Ânandasûri. The horse (Uchchaihsravâh), in the shape of Nemi. chandra. The author of this book (Akkhâņayamaņikosa), a commentary on the Uttaradhyayana,
and a Vîracharita. The moon, in the shape of Jinachandra.
